Special class:

Summer baking

Growing up in Germany, summer in my family has always been synonymous with the most delicious and refreshing berry and other fruit tarts.

The first strawberries and raspberries are appearing in the shops, and before long the cherries will be ripening too, and so, it is time to put out the exciting news: I will be offering a ‘Summer baking’ class to show you how to make some amazing tarts consisting of light, yet creamy, fillings and the best local berries, cherries or other fruit, as available on the day.

We will be making pastry shells using a pastry recipe from my Mum’s family, and then create some of these beauties:
- raspberry and lemon tarts
- morello cherry tarts with home-made vanilla custard
- a berry & cream mini-gateau (which will involve
making a light sponge as a base)

We will start the class around our kitchen table, and I will take you through the recipes step-by-step, before you roll up your sleeves and get weighing, mixing and baking! We will finish off with a bite to eat (a cheese and fruit platter) and you will also take one or two of each of the tarts home, so you can share them with family and friends.

Apart from being fun, the class is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence to replicate each recipe at home. - I keep the classes small (with a maximum of 6 participants), so that there is plenty of opportunity for questions and conversations to maximise your learning and to benefit from my extensive nutrition knowledge, adding a further dimension to your experience.

The duration of the class is approx. 4 - 4 1/2 hours. The class is suitable for beginners as well as those seeking to expand their repertoire.
