This class is dedicated entirely to gluten-free cakes. While gluten-free choices for cakes have become more wide-spread, it can still be difficult to find a delicious cake when you need one.

At our stalls at the Stirling and Uraidla Markets here in the Adelaide Hills, we used to offer a variety of gluten-free loaf cakes and tarts that were extremely popular. In this class, I would like to show you how you can make some of these cakes yourself! We will bake

- a plum & hazelnut loaf and
- a pear & walnut loaf
as well as
- berry tartlets with a butter crumble or
- apple tartles with lemon zest and cinnamon

We will start the class around our kitchen table, and I will take you through the recipes step-by-step, before you roll up your sleeves and get into it! The tarts are pastry-based, and while gluten-free pastry is often considered to be ‘impossible’ to do, I will give you some handy tips on how to make it ‘possible’. The crumble that we will make is so crunchy when baked, and I will show you how you can tweak it further to use in other dishes.

We will finish off around the kitchen table with a bite to eat, and you will also take one of each cake home, so you can share your creations with your family or friends.

Apart from being fun, the class is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence to replicate each recipe at home. We will use utensils that are available in most home kitchens. I also keep the classes small (with a maximum of 6 participants), so that there is plenty of opportunity for questions and one-on-one conversations to maximise your learning experience.

The duration of the class is approx. 4 hours. The class is suitable for beginners as well as those seeking to expand their repertoire.
