Class 6
Baking with yeast
Who doesn’t love the softness of a warm yeast bun? Or the tempting scent of a cinnamon scroll? Or how about one (or three) with poppyseeds? This is what you will experience in this class!
We will be making a traditional German yeast plait, and I will teach you how to do that using 3 strands of dough - it’s a lot of fun! We will also create absolutely delicious scrolls filled with cinnamon and hazelnuts, as well as poppyseeds.
While there is a perception that making, and working with, yeast is tricky, I will show you that that is not really the case. I will also provide you with lots of handy hints to ensure your baking at home will be a success too!
We will start the class around our kitchen table, and I will take you through the recipes step-by-step, before you roll up your sleeves and start kneading, rolling and twisting! We will finish off around the kitchen table with a bite to eat (a cheese and fruit platter), and you will also take one of each of the baked goods home, so you can share your creations with your family.
Apart from being fun, the class is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence to replicate each recipe at home. We will use utensils that are available in most home kitchens. I also keep our classes small (with a maximum of 6 participants), so that there is plenty of opportunity for questions and conversations to maximise your learning experience.
The duration of the class is approx. 4 hours. The class is suitable for beginners as well as those seeking to expand their repertoire.
