Christmas baking 2025
Growing up in Germany, the weeks leading up to Christmas were a particularly exciting time. Beautiful smells of spices and nuts from the kitchen filled the house, and the freshly baked Kuchen, Stollen and cookies often proved irresistible.
We will bake:
- my award-winning Christmas Stollen with home-made
marzipan (optional without) and
- a range of my favourite Christmas cookies, such as
* hazelnut or coconut & lemon ‘clouds’
* poppyseed & marzipan ‘kisses’
* dark chocolate, almond & orange cookies and/or
* delicious ‘Lebkuchen’ (made with hazelnut and
almond meal, honey, egg and spices
We will start the class around our kitchen table, and I will take you through the recipes step-by-step, before you roll up your sleeves and get weighing, mixing and baking! We will finish off with a bite to eat and you will also take the Stollen that you make and samples of the cookies home, so you can share them with family and friends.
Apart from being fun, the class is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence to replicate each recipe at home. I also keep the classes small (with a maximum of 6 participants), so that there is plenty of opportunity for questions and conversations to maximise your learning.
The duration of the class is approx. 4 - 4 1/2 hours. The class is suitable for beginners as well as those seeking to expand their repertoire.
